Osteopathy uses various assessments and manual techniques to identify areas of interest, restriction, constriction and pain; in order to reduce swelling; improve tissue mobility and promote proper function and healing in people of all ages. Osteopaths work to maintain, improve and restore the normal physiological function of interrelated body structures and systems, enhancing the body’s natural ability to heal itself. If you have had pain, discomfort in your joints, and strain in your muscles, or experienced headaches, digestive issues such as bloating, constipation or acid reflux, menstrual pain/irregularities/difficulty getting pregnant, come visit Sophie for an incredible treatment that can help resolve your issues.

The philosophy of Osteopathy is based on four basic principles:

Each structure in the body supports the body’s functions.
The natural flow of the body’s fluids – lymphatic, vascular and neurological – must be preserved and maintained.
The human body is the sum of its parts. Its physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and cognitive systems don’t work independently - they work in harmony.
When the body has no restrictions, it has the inherent ability to heal itself.

Ulkar Mammadova is an osteopathic therapist. She earned a B.Sc. in Kinesiology from McGill University, where she acquired a love of anatomy, biomechanics, and the complexities of the human body as a whole. This, paired with her passion for sports, led her to work with athletes and those who lead active lifestyles, culminating in the completion of a post-graduate degree in Sports Therapy from Mount Royal University. Her belief in balancing workout regimens with a healthy lifestyle drove her to become a TRX-certified coach and a certified strength and conditioning coach. Her interest in sports therapy grew as her career progressed, thanks to fieldwork with a number of sports teams (lacrosse, football, and hockey), as well as clinic work assisting patients on their recovery journeys. Ulkar’s enthusiasm for the field led her to supervise athletic therapy students in clinic and sporting settings. She believes that movement and the ability to execute a desired physical job without suffering is critical to people’s physical, emotional, and psychological well-being. She is well-positioned to assist her patients in their healing process by relying on the depth of both her personal and professional experiences. She provides athletic therapy for the following conditions: • Back and neck pain • Headaches • Acute injuries like ligament, muscle, tendon, meniscal or labral tears • Chronic injuries/conditions like bursitis, tendonitis, shin splints, osteoarthritis • Ligament, muscle, tendon or bone surgery • Neuropathies like sciatica or neurogenic thoracic outlet syndrome • Lack of mobility and stiffness Contact Ulkar Mammadova for excellent athletic therapy and osteopathic therapy treatment in Calgary.
